DESCRIPTION:SANTO DAIME CEREMONY\nWe aim to start the ceremony with Santo Daime at 19:00 on Friday\, 31 March 2023\,  please ensure that you arrive in time to get settled. \n \nVenue: 6 Nerina Avenue\, Kommetjie\nContribution: Members: R550; non-members R950\n\n\nSanto Daime was founded in the 1930s in the Brazilian Amazonian state of Acre by Raimundo Irineu Serra\, known as Mestre Irineu. Santo Daime incorporates elements of several religious or spiritual traditions including Folk Catholicism\, Kardecist Spiritism\, African animism and indigenous South American shamanism\, including vegetalismo. Ceremonies are typically several hours long and are undertaken sitting in silent “concentration”\, or sung collectively\, dancing according to simple steps in geometrical formation. Ayahuasca (Daime) is drunk as part of the ceremony. The drinking of Daime can induce a strong effect which is embraced as both emotional and physical healing. DESCRIPTION:The ceremony will be in the shamanic style\, a ceremony during which teacher plants/ power plants are taken by the participants with a prayer for healing\, direction and spiritual growth. \nA shamanic journey is to invoke the four directions\, the heart of the sky\, the Great Spirit\, the Great Mystery\, the heart of Mother Earth and the Sacred Fire. The teachings and knowledge of the medicines open our hearts and our minds – not only to really know\, accept and love ourselves\, but also to accept and include others in our circle\, without any judgements. By doing the work with clarity\, integrity\, respect and consistency\, always remembering to be humble and sincere\, we honour those that came before us – their knowledge\, wisdom and instructions. Much healing is possible during a shamanic journey – with the guidance of sacred songs\, we are able to restore our connection Great Spirit and All That Is. In this way\, physical and emotional obstacles are shifted\, and limiting beliefs are removed. By healing this separation in each of us\, everything can be healed.

It teaches us more about living as open-hearted beings – not only with each other but among all sentient life on earth.\n\nThe ceremony of the Medicine Temazcal has four rounds\, with each round focused respectively on the purpose\, the water prayer\, the power prayer and honouring the gifts from Mother Earth. \n\nThe duration of the ceremony is about four hours. \n\n

SUMMARY:Vision Quest
DESCRIPTION:Vision Quest Event\nThe Vision Quest is a traditional native initiation rite of several tribes of the USA and Mexico. The vision quester climbs the mountain with the purpose of seeking a direction in life\, a rebirth\, or a deepening in self-knowledge through prayers\, reflection and commitment. \nWe are in alliance with and oriented by this tradition\, with the permission and blessings to lead this ancestral design delivered by the chief of the Sacred Fire of Itzachilatian\, Aurelio Diaz Tepankali. \nWith this purpose questers are taken to the mountain for a fast from food\, water and speech for 4\, 7\, 9 and 13 days. The intention is that the seeker reaches a greater level of understanding of his/ her purpose or way of life\, thus recognising the ways of traditional people who gave us the sacred designs\, medicines\, knowledge of fasting\, meditation\, observation\, self-study and the conscious interaction with the environment and the elements. That which is hidden is revealed through the mystery\, the self-observation\, the internal and external manifestations of the quester and through the wisdom of nature. \nA “Four Tobacco’s” ceremony is held when the time comes to climb the mountain\, with the purpose of the ceremony being to set the intention of the Vision Quest. Seekers participate in this ceremony\, together with friends and family. After the ceremony\, seekers will take a last shower\, have a meal and enter the sweat lodge for purification\, prayers and songs. The sweat lodge is where the focus becomes internal and the vow of silence begins. \nSeekers are then taken to the assigned spaces on the mountain and planted surrounded by their 365 prayer ties where they remain in their spots for 4\,7\,9 or 13 days. For the 7\,9 and 13 day quests\, support by way of liquid and fruit is provided after day 4. Once seekers are harvested (collected) from the mountain\, their quest is closed with a sweat lodge and Four Tobacco ceremony. \nThe Vision Quest path is the commitment to complete four quests in your lifetime – \n\nthe first year honours the colour red and is for 4 days and 4 nights praying towards the East for humility.\nthe second year honours the colour yellow and is for 7 days and 7 nights praying towards the South for the purpose of our lives.\nthe third year honours the colour black and is for 9 days and 9 days praying towards the West for healing.\nthe fourth years honours the colour white and is for 13 days and 13 nights praying towards the North for peace.
