Liesl Citlalli Tlalli Tamani has been involved with plant medicines more than two decades and started facilitating ceremonies about 16 years ago, after being invited and consecrated to do so by her teachers and elders. She has travelled to Brazil and Mexico numerous times to receive further instructions in her training, and to deepen her work with the medicines.

She has extensively studied the teachings of North, Central and South American shamanism and plant medicines, as well as that of the Red Path and Sacred Fire and she leads shamanic plant journeys and ceremonies on a regular basis

Her work mainly comprise the following – 

  • Traditional shamanic journeys in the Huni Kuin/ Kaxinawa tradition, working with the medicines of the Amazon basin.
  • Ceremonies in the lineage of the Sacred Fire of Itzachilatlan – Liesl leads temazcales (sweat lodges), medicine temazcales and Four Tobacco ceremonies, and is a pipe carrier, vision quester, sacred dancer, counsellor and ordained Medicine Woman of the Sacred Fire of Itzachilatlan. She received the blessings to facilitate the ceremonies of temazcal, medicine temazcal and Four Tobacco from Aurelio Diaz Tekpankalli, her teacher and Chief of the Sacred Fire of Itzachilatlan in Mexico. In this lineage, Liesl is available to facilitate weddings, blessings, coming of age ceremonies and ceremonies for departed ones. 
  • Work in the tradition of the Santo Daime from Brazil and she been a participant and member for approximately 16 years.
  • Ceremonies with the medicines of Kambo, Los Niños and Huachuma. 

Liesl’s ceremonies are usually held at her private ceremony space about an hour from Cape Town CBD, but she regularly travels to the Garden Route, Johannesburg and Mozambique in order to facilitate her work.
